Week of 10-19-05 Our Katrina Relief Activities this week:
Through AIDSail, Christine Murto and Jefferson Sa are submitting a proposal to Veterans for Peace for funding of the Common Ground Collective, in Algiers Louisiana.
Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert, October 21, 8 p.m.. at the ZONE, 2147 North State Street, Ukiah, CA.  Two local bands, The Freys, and The Self Fulfilling Prophecies will play.  This is open to all ages, teens included as there will be no alcohol served.  We will have a bake sale, so please bring a baked good and come on down.  $5.00 donation at the door, larger donations are welcome.  Sponsored by Morgan Stocker.
Polly Lynn is organizing a response to the needs of the Houma Tribe, which lost more than 5,000 homes in the Katrina hurricane.  They are requesting help with reconstruction, volunteers and supplies.
Lynn Meadows is facilitating the development of a donated piece of land for long term housing, feeding and training of disaster volunteers in Slidell, Louisiana.
Deborah Mead is pursuing the incorporation of United Peace Relief for our 5013c, non profit status.
We are also:
Coordinating the procurement and stocking of a donated RV from Washington State, for a mobile medical clinic for the gulf region.
Recruiting, scheduling and supporting medical and non medical volunteers from all over the United States to serve in Katrina disaster relief over the next year.  This work includes medical, construction, mold abatement, food preparation, organizing, cleaning, supply distribution, social work, and more.
Making alliances with other alternative relief organizations working in the area, this includes doing the ground work for a general meeting sponsored by United Peace Relief, to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 30, 2005.
Organizing volunteers to go and help with the Common Ground Collectives, ROAD TRIP for RELIEF, from November 21 to 25, a clean up work party in Algiers, Louisiana.
