Out of Sight, Out of
Mind – New Orleans A Whole Year Later
Watching the HBO
documentary, When the Levees Broke, I was taken aback
by the enormity of emotions that had obviously lain
dormant as I’d gone about my everyday life from
August 29, 2005 to August 29, 2006. Glued to the tube
for the entire four hours and fifteen minutes, the
sheer genius that is Spike Lee allowed the story to
tell itself. If his aim was to elicit support by
infuriating the masses, shaming them to care or
inspiring them to act, he achieved it - with me.

couple of people told me they could no
longer open the article. I guess the paper archived it with the only way to
get to it is to pay. What can I say? Capitalism, capitalism, capitalism.
When I found out, I just added it to the web page so you can also get it
there but I've attached it here for you as well - by all means add it to
your journal! I'd be honored!
